Solving problems for wireless providers is Airolite’s special strength
Drawing on their extensive RF, wireless, fiberoptic, microprocessor and custom software design backgrounds, Airorlite engineers uniquely blend the technologies of radio and digital electronics into elegant solutions to solve customer problems.
Today, Airorlite has evolved into a leading edge company using this combination of technologies to provide wireless communications systems in so-called dead zones:
Tunnels & subways
Underground buildings & large concrete structures
Airports
College campuses
Malls
In addition, Airorlite has conceived, designed and manufactured custom designs based on their standard product offerings (receivers, transmitters, tunnel-linc rebroadcasting systems, and filters) to address needs facing cellular/PCS carriers and others with wireless communication requirements.
Airorlite has designed and installed communication systems for New York City’s Queens Midtown, Brooklyn Battery, Lincoln and Holland Tunnels; the World Trade Center; PATH trains; LaGuardia Airport; the Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston; Mercer and Mt. Baker Tunnels in Seattle, WA; and the Hampton Tunnel in Virginia. Our customer list includes Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, Nextel; municipalities such as New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; the Federal Government’s UAV program; Acela trains and Garden State Plaza Mall.
Standard products include an array of PC driven amplifiers, receiver, transmitters, and Ultra-Q filters for all communication bands from HF to PCS bands. Ultra-Q is a patented active filter, which eliminates all interfering signals within a specified frequency band. The low cost Ultra-Q replaces passive “brick wall” filters and cavity filters with many advantages, including the ability to tune to the exact frequency and eliminate all others.
Airorlite’s Tunnel-Linc Rebroadcast System has the capacity to receive and rebroadcast up to 30 AM and 30 FM radio stations into areas where these signals may not otherwise be received. Pre-recorded and live voice messages allow communication to vehicles via AM/FM radio. Conceived, designed and manufactured in 1982, Tunnel Linc became the architecture of all of the channelized products offered today by Airorlite. Today the products that are called upon for in-building solutions include a complete line of Channelized Booster Amps which provide coverage over all of the emergency services bands (150 to 900 MHz).

HBE’s Viscom division - delivering ruggedized mobile digital video recording systems with wireless infrastructure for transit
Viscom, a division of Henry Brothers Electronics, Inc., provides ruggedized mobile digital video recording and wireless downloading capabilities for transit authorities across the country. Viscom has a MDVR installed base of over 1000 systems, with over 30% having wireless capabilities. Viscom’s clients include such transit authorities as Denver RTD, San Francisco Municipal Railway (Light Rail Fleet) and Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority.
Viscom began as a division of Motorola, Inc. located in Carol Stream, Illinois that designed and manufactured CCTV Equipment. In 1990 HBE (a Motorola Service Shop since 1960) acquired the business and relocated it to HBE’s facility in Fair Lawn, NJ. While the company continued to produce analog video equipment, it transitioned to Mobile Video Systems for the transit authority vertical market in the 1990s.
In designing a solution for the particular needs of a transit authority, Viscom draws on the technical and geographic resources of HBE to meet the customer’s needs.
Safeguarding Passengers and Assets
Ground transportation's infrastructure and its inherently open nature makes transit systems highly susceptible to emerging security threats. By network-enabling these systems and carrying information over a common, standards-based communications infrastructure, transit operators can:
Correlate security information in real time and base immediate action on the totality of any situation. For example, activating cameras when an alarm is triggered and providing first responders with real-time video of security threats can make a critical difference in effectively handling a threat to security or public safety.
Extend the security perimeter with wireless and wired networking technologies by enabling security cameras and other devices to be placed in new locations currently unreachable by legacy systems.
In case of an emergency, enable real-time information to be sent to police and other first responder PDAs or mobile computing devices, which will allow front-line personnel to view video of an event or receive real-time information on a developing situation while en route.
Deliver emergency information to passengers via passenger information displays and public address systems.
Manage network security including intrusion detection, encryption, virtual private networks (VPNs), access control, port identification, and firewalls.
